BLW, my little sister Julie and I went to Red River skiing last weekend. We had fun. It was my little sisters first time, ever. She did not really like skiing. I love to ski but HATE ski lifts I will ride 1 big one per day. After, I get off of the big ones I have to sit for 20-30 mins to get over my motion sickness. So, I usually ski the afternoon, sleeping till my normal wake time of 10 or 11. BLW on the other hand is quite alright on ski lifts. He, like everything else is the perfect skier. He is awesome. I ski good and rarely far but that is because I am vain. I have a huge fear of being ugly because I have scars on my face...I do not ride broncs, ski fast, and well lots of other things too many to list actually!! I am strange I know.

Anniversary band

I got my anniversary band early!!! for V-day....BLW came home Sat. morning with a yoga DVD and card:( I was expecting something like that since he always buys for need and not want. Plus, I am not great to give to because I want what I want and I am not good at faking my reactions to stuff and he if I want something he just gets it for me then. We do not really do big holiday stuff. We just get stuff for each other if the other says they want it. So, he could tell I was let down since I got him exactly what he wanted (Band of Brothers on DVD and the book.) Anyway he was going to make me wait all day to get it but he let me have it yesterday morning. It is really pretty!!! I tried to take pictures but they were all crazy looking and it was like looking into the flash so...I will try again when I get it back from the sizer people.

A government big enough to give you what you want...

Catching Wild Pigs

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students inthe class. One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, andstretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter. The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to over throw his country's government and install a new communist government.
In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked astrange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'
The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line. The young man said this was no joke. 'You catch wild pigs by finding asuitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in The last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.
The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America .
The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such assupplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.
A politician will never provide a service for you cheaper thanyou can do it yourself.
My all time favorite government quote "A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have" Thomas Jefferson

So called horse trainers...

BLW and I sent our filly from DX Quarter Horses to get some rides put on her. I dropped her off mid-November and did not get her back till Jan 31. Mind you to get about 20 rides on her. I kept telling him that I could come get her anytime. He kept telling me he need more time to ride her. She lost weight, more than she should have. He said it was because my horses need to be wormed and vaccinated. I worm my horses once a month, all of them. I 6-way once a year and 4-way once, all my horses. The ones going up and down the road get flu/rhino 1 or 2 more times. My horses also practically live at the dentist school. And go to the vet for anything, yes, I am a hypochondriac.
The first reason I called him was to get him to tell me what he did with her because she has a million and a half holes in her. She acts and responds worse than when we sent her. She is jumpy and scared of stuff now. My farrier even said she was acting like someone had been beating her. She jumps out from under you when you get off. Mind you, DX horses are super gentle from the get go and really easy to work with and train. Coco is no different, in fact she WAS too laid back. She will not work when you try to ground work her now. So his reason for her not working was that "I needed to quit getting trashy horses and learn to take care of my horses better"
He also told me I am not a horse trainer; I am a horse trader.
When I called him about taking my horses, he kissed my ass of course. He told me that he was not taking outside horses because noone does anything with their horses and that they always bitch. Now after sending him 4 horses, 2 of which he sent home after a few days, I know that he is not getting any outside horses because he does not do what he says he is going to do or take care of them. Not getting outside horses and not taking outside horses are two very different things.
After trying two different guys we have decided that I will start all of our colts. BLW is building me a round pen.

Miniature Donkeys

Meet Dos and Quatro. Dos is a jack, which is a donkey stallion; he is mine and the brown one.
Quatro is the grey one; we gave him to my mother-in-law and he is a gelding. They are both 3, halter broke and gentle. They are register. I am going to show my little Dos. Quatro is kind of bad!! Naughty little donkeys.

My runs from Salt Creek 2/1

I ran Beau and Poncho at a Twin State Barrel Race today....

Poncho ran his fastest run ever at Salt Creek, 16.570. I will forgive him for being ugly with his face; he is getting his teeth done on Friday. He has a magic stick he must wave at the timer because he always gets a check. He has been running since the first week of Oct 2008. He has won about $700, a buckle and a brest collar. We could only come up with 13 runs on that Poncho has made; here they are:
1. Salt Creek-4D 2nd
2. D & G Graham-n/a
3. Zaal Ranch Fall 1-4D 1st
4. Zaal Ranch Fall 2-4D 2nd
5. Destry's(Belton) run 1-n/a
6. Destry's(Belton) run 2-Sr horse 3D-3rd
7. Zaal Ranch Fall 3-4D-?
8. Hopper Ranch-would have won 4D but 1/2, 1/2, 1 splits
9. Zaal Ranch Fall 4-Hit first
10. Zaal Ranch Fall 5-NT broken pattern
11. Zaal Ranch Fall 6-NT 4D placed?
12. Salt Creek Jan-4D 1st
13. Salt Creek Feb 1-3D 1st
If anyone remembers another one let me know, please! As far as I concerned he can retire here. I love him!!! He wins money and prizes and he is naughty. He runs off when you change head gear, he hides in the woods from you when you try and catch him and he will bite the shit out of you after he licks you, he nickers everytime he sees you, he is mean as hell to horses he does not like. He is great.

Beau ran good too. He got hung up on the back side of some barrels but he clocked and that is what I have been waiting on. I put him in a treeless saddle because his was killing ''MY" back. He can do better but we are happy with a consitent 2D horse. He placed 2nd in the 2D with a 16.082.
